Believing in Hope Despite the Pain was set up by Kat Marsh after meeting Moumina (Mimi) Al-Fairi, a Palestinian mother and teacher, since the beginning of 2024. they met through Instagram and Kat began donating to her directly, located in North Gaza where there was a widespread famine and available food items were very expensive. Kat then began to fundraise for her and They successfully raised £500 via Chuffed towards medical treatment for her father Fouad.

Using her years of experience as a teacher, Mimi started an education inititative 'Believing In Hope Despite The Pain' to help the children who have had their school years disrupted by the continued violence.

Mimi and her husband Mohammed provided over a year of support to her community using our donations, but the family were forced to pause their humanitarian work when they were injured in a drone strike in September 2025. Mohammed and Mimi's daughters Lynn and Meral received shrapnel injuries. Lynn's injuries are in her brain and she's currently being observed at Nasser Hospital.

Their focus is currently on supporting the family as they recover and working to help get Lynn evacuated. Every donation contributes to supporting the family and every penny donated is sent to Mimi via our trusted intermediary, her relative Mohannad in Jordan.
